A vast amount of new knowledge from the social sciences about
interpersonal relationships has important implications for the lives
of teenagers. The problem is that this knowledge can be found only
in widely scattered sources, and is mostly unknown to today’s
young people. The National Marriage Project at Rutgers University
pulls together the most relevant knowledge in a small brochure:
“Ten Things Teens Should Know about Marriage.”
“Ten Things Teens Should Know about Marriage”
surveys the full range of social science materials and distills
the information that could be of use to teenagers in conducting
their interpersonal relationships, especially in preparation for
eventual marriage. Each of the ten points includes a brief discussion,
in language easily accessible to teenagers. In a separate section
of the brochure, footnotes present the social scientific sources
for the information provided.
