Building Relationship Skills Newsletter
June 2008
Dear Friends –
Congratulations on another school year of work well done in teaching relationship skills to our teens!
As you plan summer activities for teens and consider programs for next school year, here’s a new research finding to bolster your resolve:
| The California Healthy Marriages Coalition (CHMC) has published research findings from the 2008 California Marriage Baseline Survey which indicates that about 80% of all adults surveyed – regardless of differences in gender, income or age – think that teens should be taught relationship skills as part of their high school education! The CHMC will be sharing their full report at the Smart Marriage conference. |
Remember you can sharpen your skills with this outstanding summer opportunity: get trained in a Dibble Institute research backed curriculum and GET PAID TO DO IT at the Smart Marriages 2008 Conference from July 2 - 5 in San Francisco!
Ifyou are in California, even if you aren’t registered for the conference, come see us at the exhibit area of the conference and learn how we can facilitate your work. An informational flier is attached – please print a copy and share it!
Have a fun and safe summer. We will be bringing you more great new materials in the fall!

The Dibble Institute for Marriage Education is a nonprofit 501c3 organization dedicated to helping young people learn skills that enable successful relationships and marriages. We serve as a nationwide advocate and resource for youth marriage education. We develop, publish, and distribute materials that help teens learn healthy relationship skills.
Our research based, best practice, developmentally appropriate programs – being taught across the country – teach students the skills and knowledge that are central to building and maintaining healthy romances and, eventually, marriages. Curricula are easily adapted to classroom, church, community, agency and youth group settings and are appropriate for Family and Consumer Science, career prep and English teachers; youth agency workers; independent living coordinators; abstinence and teen pregnancy prevention workers; camp and after school program staff; Healthy Marriage, CBAE, and Head Start grantees; youth pastors; social workers; and parents.
The Dibble Institute is nonpartisan and nonsectarian. Our activities are funded through sales of educational materials and services and through support from foundations, corporations and individuals.
